Made Alive to Remember: A Heart That Worships

There is something deeply powerful about remembering. Our ability to recall the things that matter most—those moments that shape us, sustain us, and remind us of who we are—can stir our hearts, strengthen us, and renew our faith.

Let us ask ourselves, how often do we recall the goodness of God? Do we call to mind the grace that saved us, the mercy that sustains us, and the love that will never let us go?

David, in Psalm 103, invites us into this kind of remembering—not just as an exercise of the mind, but as an act of worship. David’s words call us to:

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” (Psalm 103:1-2)

Believer, today, let’s not let our worries and fears dictate our mindset, let us remind ourselves of what is true. Let’s call to mind the unchanging character of God and His great benefits for all who trust in Him.

The Benefits of God: A Reason to Remember

For the believer, God’s benefits are deep personal realities:

  • Forgiveness“Who forgives all your iniquity” (v. 3)
  • Healing“Who heals all your diseases” (v. 3)
  • Redemption“Who redeems your life from the pit” (v. 4)
  • Steadfast Love & Mercy“Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy” (v. 4)
  • Satisfaction in God“Who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (v. 5)

The same God who forgave, healed, redeemed, and satisfied David is the same God who is at work in His people today. Because of the finished work of Jesus, let the hope that comes from God stir our heats to Bless the LORD!
