In 2019, Victoria Jones became the first African American to be appointed to the City Council of Lawrenceville, Georgia. She currently holds the Post 2 position on the Lawrenceville City Council. She completed the term and was elected to serve in 2020. In January 2021, Mrs. Jones was selected by her fellow City Council Members to serve as Mayor Pro Tem (vice mayor) of the City Council.
